6 Ways to Decrease your Winter Heating Bills

1. Set the Thermostat Properly
The most economical operation of your system comes from setting the thermostat properly. Set the thermostat at the lowest winter setting at which you are comfortable. Typical settings are 68 degrees for winter heating. When heating, your operating costs increase 3% to 8% for each degree your thermostat is raised.

2. Tune-Up Heating System Annually
Energy costs have increased up to 60% or more this year. One way you can minimize this increased expense is by having annual service done to your heating system. Studies show that homeowners having annual service to their systems spend an average of $30 less each month because of increased efficiency. Lack of regular maintenance is also the #1 cause of system breakdowns and costly repairs.

3. Keep the Air Filter Clean
The easiest way to ensure your system operated efficiently is by keeping the air filter clean. There are several types of air filters and several possible locations for the air filter on your furnace. Ask Apollo’s service technician next time he’s out at your home to show you where your air filter is located and which type of air filter to use. If you have allergies, you should look at a pleated allergy filter or a media or electronic style air cleaner.

4. Keep Doors and Windows Closed
Close all doors and windows to the outside (even garage doors). This will reduce the heating load in the winter, making your heating system operate more economically.

5. Keep Vents and Grilles Unobstructed
Arrange your furniture and drapes so that all output vents and intake grilles are free from obstruction. This will also reduce the heating load on your furnace and allow for more economical operation.

6. Avoid Excess Use of Exhaust Fans
Excessive use of kitchen or bathroom exhaust fans will make your system work harder. Keep energy costs in check by making wise use of exhaust fans.

Toothbrush Sanitizers – Why They Should be Considered as Bathroom Essential

We all know the importance of toothbrushing for oral hygiene and plaque removal. However, brushing teeth with the right techniques is only one part of the equation. It is also important to keep toothbrushes clean and sanitized. This is where toothbrush sanitizers come into the picture.

Before discussing toothbrush sanitizers, let us take a look at some of the facts associated with a wet and not properly cleaned toothbrush:

1. Germs can remain and breed on wet toothbrushes after brushing.

2. Toothbrushes can also be contaminated with germs from the bathroom, and from neighboring toothbrushes.

3. In addition to germs, things that may also have been collected on your toothbrush include bacteria, viruses, fungi (molds and yeasts) and other microbes.

4. Common colds/flu and other infections can easily be passed from one person to another when unsanitized toothbrushes are stored together.

5. Germs can prolong infections like gum disease, colds and sore throats.

Now we can see that it really isn’t a terribly good idea to leave toothbrushes wet and uncleaned. Toothbrush sanitizers work by killing the bulk of the germs and microbes resident on toothbrushes. In so doing the risks of infections by various microbes are reduced.

There are various types of these sanitizers. The more common ones are based on ultra violet technology and are quite easy to use. You simply put your toothbrushes in a sanitizing chamber and switch the unit on. Inside the chamber a UV bulb comes on and distributes UV light on the brushes. Typically after 5 to 10 minutes, the bulb switches itself off when the process is completed and the toothbrushes are sanitized. The word “sanitized” usually means that around 99 percent of bacteria has been killed.

There is another type of sanitizers using steam to do the work and taking water as input. Apart from the extra step of adding water, the steam-based sanitizers are just as simple to use as the UV-based ones. There is however a number of advantages with the steam-based sanitizers. First, the cleaning is a little more thorough as steam can penetrate nooks and crannies within the toothbrushes better than UV light can. Second, it takes a much shorter time to do the cleaning. Third, steam cleaners generally also clean the handle and not only the brush head.

Most of us understand the importance of keeping our teeth clean and yet somehow fail to understand the importance of keeping our toothbrushes sanitized. A toothbrush sanitizer should really be considered a bathroom essential.

Some useful info about The Sun Aire™ Air Purifier

Most purifiers cannot completely remove fine lung-penetrating particles, lingering odors, toxic volatile gasses, or secondhand smoke, so most of the industry concentrates on products which simply make things look clean!

The Sun Aire™ Air Purifier safely destroys micro & macro organisms such as bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew and fungi freeing you of allergy and asthma symptoms.

Before you buy an air purifier check an air purifier’s efficiency rating.

The Sun Aire Air Purifier uses their own Photon UVC Lamp method (like the sun) to safely clean the air you breathe while producing no harmful side effects in an area of up to 2,000 square feet.

It is important to know how the Air Purifier works.

Room air is pre filtered as it enters the unit. The air is circulated around ultra-violet and anti-germicidal lamp. Thus it is “energized” into allotropic oxygen, using this cool, safe, photon process. The “energized” air is blown out the front of the machine and enters your indoor environment, seeking out contaminates in every corner. When the “energized oxygen” comes into contact with a Particulate, Pathogen or Gas, the activated atoms attach themselves to the contaminate. If the contaminate is a gas, it changes its molecular structure. If the contaminate is a particle, it oxidizes it. The patented Photozone Advanced Photo Oxidation (APO) process, generates ozone, but has some significant differences: The special Photozone UV lamps produce the exact wavelengths needed to produce not only ozone, but other higher forms of activated oxygen as well. No significant corrosive nitric oxides are present. The gas is full of negative ions. Note the similarity to the negative ion avalanche effect noted by the Japanese physicist in the section on cold process ozone. An analysis of the compounds in Photozone gas is as follows:
•    Ozone, 03, 66.7%
•    Hydroxy Radical, OH, 14.7%
•    Hydroperoxy Radical, H02, 6.3%
•    Hydrogen Peroxide, H202, 5.9%
•    Atomic Oxygen, 0, 4.4%
•    Other Oxidants, 2.0%
•    Nitrogen Oxides, NO, <0.1%

Also note that the lifetime, washable 0.5 micron 2-stage electrostatic pre-filter is an important feature of this product and alone will save you approximately $100 – $200 per year in expensive replacement filtering media such as Hepa, Charcoal or Carbon.

If you need an air purifier primarily for odor and gas control, you would want an air purifier that will first remove the majority of the particulates in a pre-filter and then have the gases and odors removed.

In addition to ridding your environment of the Lung Damaging Particles, the Sun Aire™ Air Purifier also neutralizes the offensive odors caused by smoke, pets, cooking, chemicals, carpet, paints, solvents and more.

The size matters.

Measuring 11″x10″x8″ and weighing only nine pounds the Purifier comes with a convenient carrying handle so you can purify the air no matter where you are.

How efficient is it?

Both versions safely, efficiently and economically clean your air using the equivalent of a 60 watt light bulb and the lifetime .5 micron pre filter that never needs replacing.

Don’t forget the outlook.

This standard unit comes in a durable stainless steel finish or in a beautiful Oak finish to discreetly blend in with your home decor while safely purifying your air.

Some facts about the Air we breathe

Without clean air we couldn’t breathe.

The World Health Organization states that 2.4 million people die each year from causes directly attributable to air pollution, with 1.5 million of these deaths attributable to indoor air pollution.

Epidemiological studies suggest that more than 500,000 people die each year from cardiopulmonary disease linked to breathing fine particle air pollution.

A study by the University of Birmingham has shown a strong correlation between pneumonia related deaths and air pollution.

The Environmental Protection Agency survey shows that indoor air pollution is among the top five environmental risks to public health. The study, itself reveals that indoor levels of pollutants are 25 times and occasionally up to 100 times, higher than outdoor levels.

More than 15 million Americans are estimated to have asthma, including one-in-13 school-age children, other 28 million suffer from hay fever and other allergies.

Direct causes of air pollution related deaths include aggravated asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung and heart diseases, and respiratory allergies. The health effects caused by air pollutants may range from subtle biochemical and physiological changes to difficulty in breathing, wheezing, coughing and aggravation of existing respiratory and cardiac conditions. These effects can result in increased medication use, increased doctor or emergency room visits, more hospital admissions and premature death. The human health effects of poor air quality are far reaching, but principally affect the body’s respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. Individual reactions to air pollutants depend on the type of pollutant a person is exposed to, the degree of exposure, the individual’s health status and genetics.

Many people don’t know that pollution may be worse inside their homes than outdoors. Our homes are now more energy efficient, but they are also rich in allergens, toxins, and health threatening agents. Especially vulnerable are our children, who inhale 50% more air per pound of body weight than adults. According to a study by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, indoor air contaminants are responsible for half of all illnesses. Tobacco smoke actually contains over 4,000 compounds, many of which are strong irritants. Cooking, cleaning and other home activities can additionally create indoor pollutants. Most homes generate about 40 pounds of dust per year for every 1.500 square feet of space. About 40,000 dust mites, a common cause of household allergies, can be found in only one ounce of dust. Even a spotless home can allow indoor pollutants to flourish. Bathrooms, damp basements, and even carpets and furniture are often the prime causes. Many airborne contaminants are invisible—spores, bacteria, particulates, gases and chemicals can all contribute to short and long-term health consequences, including headache, allergies, fatigue, asthma or even cancer.

So now we have to think. Is it worth spending money on medicines, doctors and treatments or we better prevent all of this? Don’t wait for bad things to happen when you can eliminate them.

To avoid the illness is hundred times better than to fight it after it has come.

Air Purifiers

Ozone Vs. Others

Nine out of ten diseases, including the common cold and the flu, are caused by water or airborne bacteria and viruses. When comparing disinfectants one should keep in mind that there are very few bad chemical solutions for killing micro-organisms.
Nearly all biocides will disinfect nearly any water if the right dosage and reaction time are applied. The most important future issue of disinfectants will be how environmentally friendly the antimicrobial agent will be:

What disinfectant by-products will be formed and how efficiently, that is how quickly can the disinfectant applied achieve a sufficient log reduction of bacteria, viruses and fungi?

Ozone (O3) is poisonous and can kill bacteria and fungi as well as cause changes in molecular/chemical structures to eliminate odors caused by these bacteria. Ozone kills microorganisms with a process known as “cellular lysis”. In the oxidation process, ozone ruptures the cellular membrane of microorganisms and disperses the bacterial cytoplasm into solution, thus making reactivation impossible. This process takes place in about 2 seconds. In water ozone releases extra oxygen molecules so that Hydrogen dioxide (H2O) results in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).) This causes anything that relies on water, such as bacteria and fungi, to be effected: rubber and plastic can dry out, water exposed long enough becomes hydrogen peroxide, many odorous substances become neutralized and/or it’s causing bacteria/fungi will be sterilized (It can even be used on tear-gas residue).

As a comparison based on 99.99% of bacterial concentration being killed and time taken ozone is:
25 times of that of  HOCl  (Hypochlorous Acid)
2,500 times of that of  OCl  (Hypochlorite)
5,000 times of that of NH2Cl (Chloramine).

Further more, ozone is at least 10 times stronger than chlorine as a disinfectant.  Chlorine reacts with meat forming highly toxic and carcinogen compounds called THMs or tri-halomethanes – rendering meats lesser quality products.  THMs was also implicated as carcinogens in developing kidney, bladder, and colon cancers.  Chlorine also results in the production of chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, chloromethane besides THMs.  On the other hand, ozone does not even leave any trace of residual product upon its oxidative reaction. Like chlorine, ozone kills microorganisms. The sterilization action of ozone is by “direct kill attack” and oxidation of the biological material. Virus destruction with ozone is instantaneous, safe and foolproof, as ozone is nature’s own purifier. Chlorine’s reactive oxidant is hypochloric acid which is formed when chlorine is dissolved in water. This powerful oxidant will have significant long term negative effects on our water sources. Ozone, on the other hand, has no side effects as far as the treatment of water is concerned. It has properly been described as the “add-nothing” sterilant.

Ozone Generators – Residential Swimming Pool and Spa Equipment and Technologies – Water Purification Systems

If you have been doing some research on Ozone, you have no doubt already read many articles describing its characteristics. Really simple, it is 3 oxygen atoms that were combined through one of several processes. It becomes a very unstable molecule in this state, and is just waiting for a chance to stabilize again by oxidizing something, almost anything actually. 3’s a crowd right and as soon as our O3 molecule meets something, it uses that 3rd atom like a bomb to oxidize whatever it met.

What we want to do with the O3 we produce will play a big part in which process we use to make it. Here, we are concered with water, but Ozone also has many other uses. How we make the Ozone will determine how powerful it is. Then the biggest issue is how we will apply it. You can take the finest Ozone producing equipment available, and render it next to useless if it is not applied right. A few issues to be concerned with are concentration, solubility and contact time. There are the UV style Ozone generators (the bulb/lamp style) which do not use air preparation systems, and Corona Discharge (so called lighting storm style) ones that do. Although sometimes used without air prep. systems, CD style resonators should always use prepared air or oxygen to produce ozone. Humidity in the air will cause the process to create nitric acid which will destroy the generator in a short time. Humid air also produces very little ozone.

Solubility is realy important, because if we can’t dissolve the Ozone in the water, it won’t work. Just bubbling some ozone into the water may dissolve some ozone, but much will be wasted and just off gas to atmosphere. Without a long explanation, this is where venturi injectors are so effective. They literally squeeze the Ozone into the water. We also want the bubbles to be as small as possible because there is more surface area in many small bubbles then in large. Again, the venturi injectors are very good at this point.

In dealing with concentration, what we want to make is getting those bubbles to contain the most ozone they can. The more Ozone a bubble contains the more oxidizing power it has. Oxygen of course, has more oxygen in it to produce ozone than air, and no humidity, so we get a much higher concentration. Dried air has less humidity than room air, so we again get higher concentrations. Taking a Corona Discharge generator and using oxygen as a feed gas, we will get by far the highest concentration. If we took 1 gram of ozone and put it in 1 big bubble, there would be a lot of ozone in the bubbles interior not able to contact anything. If we took that same gram and put it into 1000 fine bubbles, the increased surface area allows more ozone molecules to react with something, and so very little ozone would be wasted as off gas.

As with chlorine, bromine or any other cleaner or oxidant, Ozone has a time that it takes to kill or oxidize a given thing. This is known as contact time. The molecule will come in contact with something, and after a certain period, that something is eliminated. The most powerful, commonly used product used we are known with is chlorine. O3 has 100 times the oxidizing power of chlorine. It also kills bacteria and cysts etc. up to 3,000 times faster. Residuals and kill rates are calculated as CT Values, which is the Concentration multiplied by the exposure Time. If we look at the Giardia Cyst in water at 68° F with a pH of 7.5, we will find that free chlorine has a CT value of 83 to obtain a given inactivation of the cyst. O3 has a CT value of .72. This means that at 1ppm, free chlorine will take 83 minutes to perform this feat, whereas 1ppm O3 will take only about 40 seconds.

Improve your personal and family life

The life is changing for everybody – for plants, animals and of course for us, humans. As the life changes, so do the living conditions. The Sun is getting stronger; the water and the air are getting more and more polluted; new dangerous microorganisms start inhabiting our own world, bringing new and unknown threats for us and our children; let’s not forget about the everyday stress which affects anybody, no matter rich or poor.

The reality is like this and we can not deny this change. But what should we do. Should we hide behind thick and big walls? Should we stop going out and having fun? Should we forget the beauty of the life? Sure we won’t. We have one powerful and reliable source to protect and serve to us. It is the science. Only by this means we can relax and keep on and on. Now the science is working not only for the people who deal with it. Now it’s time that it works for the mankind to help us survive in the modern world.

It’s true that we have chlorinated water supply in our homes, but with some home improvement and modern devices we can purify it; the strong sun beams can not go through the filters of the sunglasses; our stiff back and joints can be exercised and relieved by daily short-time activity with newly designed and tested apparatus. There are lots of examples how we can make our personal and family life much easier. There are really contemporary decisions to facilitate it without being afraid that it is dangerous.

The only thing which needs to be paid attention is that first we read and learn and then we use these home and personal facilities as there is lots of garbage out there waiting. Be sure that you understand right and perfectly the idea and the principle of the device you are going to use. Be sure that this is the facility that you really need and your personal and home life can benefit from it. When you see the results, then you can always tell your relatives, friends, colleagues and others about it. When you are sure it helped you and then you can tell others that it’s worth having it in your home. Trust your knowledge and your real friends also. If you have a problem, do not be afraid. The science is here and it’s working continuously for my, your and our living needs.

It’s time to understand that the new life requires new methods, new machines, new ideas, and new techniques and devices. Otherwise we will fall behind and if we do not go ahead then we will disappear. Do not be afraid to try and use something new for you and your family, but also be very careful as many people will try to confuse and take advantage of you. Remember Cheap is always more expensive. If you do not understand anything, you better ask.

I hope I was helpful. Your good life is in your head and hands and you can improve it.

Swimming pool ozone generators – Ozone technology

Some scientific info

Ozone (O3) is a molecule, consisting of three oxygen atoms. It is an allotrope oxygen that is much less stable than the diatomic O2. The ozone layer in the upper atmosphere filters potentially damaging ultraviolet light from reaching the Earth’s surface. It is present in low concentrations throughout the Earth’s atmosphere. It has many industrial and consumer applications.

Ozone can be used to remove manganese from water, forming a precipitate which can be filtered:

2 Mn2+ + 2 O3 + 4 H2O → 2 MnO (OH) 2 (s) + 2 O2 + 4 H+

Ozone will also turn cyanides to the one thousand times less toxic cyanates:

CN- + O3 → CNO- + O2

Industrial Use

Mainly the ozone is used in the preparation of pharmaceuticals, synthetic lubricants and other organic compounds. It is also be used to bleach substances and for killing microorganisms in air and water sources. Many drinking water systems kill bacteria with ozone instead of the more common chlorine as it does not form organ chlorine compounds, nor does it remain in the water after treatment. The Safe Drinking Water Act mandate that these systems introduce an amount of chlorine to maintain a minimum of 0.2 ppm residual Free Chlorine in the pipes, based on results of regular testing. Ozone is also a cost-effective method of treating water, where there is electric power since it is produced on demand and does not require transportation and storage of hazardous chemicals. Once it has decayed, it leaves no taste or odor in drinking water. Other important applications of ozone:

  • Disinfect water in place of chlorine
  • Kill bacteria on food or on contact surfaces;
  • Sanitize swimming pools and spas
  • Kill insects in stored grain
  • Scrub yeast and mold spores from the air in food processing plants;
  • Wash fresh fruits and vegetables to kill yeast, mold and bacteria;
  • Chemically attack contaminants in water (iron, arsenic, hydrogen sulfide, nitrites and complex organics stick together as “color”);
  • Eradicate water borne parasites such as Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium in surface water treatment plants.

Swimming Pools

Ozone has been in regular use for more than fifty years in the west European countries, such as France, Germany and others as they realize the consequences of chlorine gas.

Ozone has also been in use in Europe since the 1890’s for drinking water purification. Some large cities in the United States such as Los Angeles and Milwaukee now boast the best drinking water in America since they began using Ozone as a purification method.

Ozone, although a disinfectant or sanitizer and oxidizer, it is normally referred to as the primary oxidizer and alternative sanitizer when referring to its use in swimming pools in the United States.

Here are some useful details that have to be mentioned when speaking of ozone:

  • Ozone destroys viruses and bacteria such as e-coli and legionaries, and others.
  • Ozone is over one thousand times faster acting than chlorine at oxidizing and destroying bather load in a swimming pool. This drastically reduces chlorine requirements.
  • Decreased chemical usage – significant savings considering the cost of chlorine
  • Better water clarity
  • Reduction or total elimination of chloramines
  • Reduction or total elimination of odors-particularly valuable in indoor pool environments
  • Smoother water feel
  • No red itching eyes normally caused by chloramines
  • Very effective at destroying viruses and organisms
  • pH neutral

Ozone gas is introduced into water by means of either a venturi injector creating a vacuum to suck ozone gas into the water or with direct injection or diffusers by pushing the air into the water with an air pump. The Ozone gas mixes with the water. The best saturation of Ozone in water is obtained when many fine bubbles of Ozone is introduced which provide more total surface area of Ozone contact.

There are basically two ways that Ozone is produced by man or by nature. One is known as Corona Discharge (CD) and the other is passing air across special Vacuum Ultra Violet lamps. (VUV) often times referred to as UV Ozone or Very Ultra Violet Ozone.

Manufacturers of each of these technologies say the other technology uses more electricity. In reality they are pretty equal. In some applications VUV lamps use less and others Corona uses less, but in any event, not by much and not an issue. Neither uses much electricity.

Another statement by manufacturers is ease of maintenance between the two technologies. This is also subjective and used by who is selling what. Corona manufacturers require replacing check valves and hoses annually, and to wear protective gloves when doing so. Corona cell components also need periodic maintenance. VUV Lamp Ozone manufacturers state their lamps run between 9,000 and 20,000 hours, so they may need replacing depending upon pool filtration run time every several to seven or so years.

Both Vacuum Ultra Violet lamp Ozone systems and Corona Discharge systems are available for use in commercial swimming pools ranging to the millions of gallons.

Extremely large Corona Discharge systems are used for large metropolitan municipal water treatment systems.

Although this discussion is dealing with swimming pools, there are many applications for both Ozone technologies such as, but not limited to, water cooling towers, laundry systems, drinking water, wells and cisterns, wastewater treatment, aquariums, fruits and vegetables, meats, odors, medical, ice machines, many more.

Corona Discharge (CD) Ozone Generators

Corona discharge is a high electrical energy field such as lightning in natural occurrences, and by man using two highly energized metal or ceramic plates or chambers with a narrow gap in which air flows through. The arcing of this high electrical energy called the corona field alters the electron structure of all elements in the air passing through the chamber.

When man made corona discharge ozone generator systems are fed pure oxygen input and also very dry air passed through an air drier, they produce high quantities of Ozone. When manufacturers of Corona Discharge Ozone systems provide Ozone output production graphs, they sometimes use pure oxygen and very low humidity or dry air in testing. At a minimum, they often use drier air than normally found in many areas of the United States.

In reality, Oxygen concentrators and air dryers are price prohibitive for the backyard pool so ambient air only is passed through the cell. Pure Oxygen does not exist in ambient air, and in some areas of the country, humidity is very high. Commercial CD systems that can afford the cost, and do provide Oxygen concentrators require additional maintenance such as cleaning concentrator filters, and life cycle issues. They also require Ozone monitoring safety devices.

(Ambient air: A colorless, odorless, tasteless, gaseous mixture, mainly nitrogen (approximately 78 percent) and oxygen (approximately 21 percent) with lesser amounts of argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, neon, helium, and other gases.

b. This mixture with varying amounts of moisture and particulate matter, enveloping the earth; the atmosphere.)

Corona Discharge systems provided with ambient air input to the chamber such as backyard pools have certain issues that arise. Below are two primary issues.

One issue is the high Nitrogen content of ambient air. As mentioned previously, all elements passing through a Corona chamber are altered. Nitrogen is the primary substance in air, and altering its state creates harmful byproducts such as nitric acid (nitric acid: A clear, colorless to yellow liquid that is very corrosive and can dissolve most metals. It is used to make fertilizers, explosives, dyes, and rocket fuels) and Nitric oxide (nitric oxide n. A colorless, poisonous gas), along with other Nitrous byproducts. To top it off, Nitrates. Nitrates are Algae food.

Another issue is Humidity. Ever wonder why it is that when you reach for something or someone in the winter time where the air is dry and you are zapped by a bolt of static electricity? Ever wonder why in the summer time, or when outdoors this does not occur? These answers are simple—Ambient Air Humidity. If humidity affects electrical conductivity in ambient air, could it not directly relate to the electrical field in a Corona Discharge cell hindering output?

In review: Corona Discharge systems that are supplied pure Oxygen and dry air produce high levels of pure Ozone. Corona Discharge units that are provided only ambient air, such as backyard pool applications, create Nitrogen byproducts and may experience diminished outputs with increased humidity.

Vacuum Ultra Violet (VUV) Ozone Generators

VUV lamp Ozone generators simulate nature’s way of creating the Earth’s outer Ozone layer. This is accomplished by creating the equivalent of the Sun’s solar light energy spectrum in the 185 nanometer range.

The outer Ozone layer is a continual process of the spectrum interacting with Oxygen and is considered very beneficial to our existence.

There are differences in Ozone generation using VUV lamps versus Corona Discharge (CD) equipment.

Ozone lamps are not affected by humidity. In fact, humidity is said to increase the effective oxidizing potential of Ozone generating lamps by drawing properties of the germicidal spectrum through the filtering quartz. Some refer to this as Advanced Oxidation Technology (AOT) and others Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP). Ozone lamp systems perform very well in humid places, where there are issues with ambient air CD systems.

As with CD technology, the greater and purer the Oxygen amount introduced to the input chamber of the lamps, the higher output of Ozone.

Unlike CD systems that create potentially harmful Nitrogen byproducts with ambient air, Ozone lamps only alter Oxygen converting it to Ozone. Ozone lamps are not known to create harmful byproducts.

Ozone lamp systems normally do not require the maintenance of CD systems. The nitrogen byproducts created by CD hinder the effectiveness of check valves, injectors, and hoses which is not as evident with lamp Ozone generators. No special clothing or gloves are required for maintenance of lamp Ozone systems. Note: Do not look directly at an Ozone lamp. Ozone lamps also contain mercury, so proper disposal must be considered.

In review: VUV Lamp Ozone generating systems perform very well in all environments. They normally require less maintenance than CD systems. Warranties are often longer in duration. Ozone lamp systems are normally less expensive to purchase.

Taking care of your toothbrush seems to be as important as taking care of your teeth.

It’s your toothbrush that takes care of your teeth, but do you take care of your toothbrush?

A single toothbrush can hold millions of microorganisms and harmful bacteria – live creatures that thrive in warm and moist environment, one that you can find in any average bathroom. VIOlight stops these microorganisms inhabit your toothbrush. A number of independent studies show that the patent – pending VIOlight system can eliminate up to 99.9 percent of the harmful microorganisms that dwell on our toothbrushes. These are the millions of microscopic bugs, which can cause flu, colds and other illnesses, zapped in minutes!

How many germs you can count on your toothbrush?

Researchers have found more than 10000000 of bacteria living on a single toothbrush. Hard to believe but it is a scientifically proven fact.

Useful to know

Several studies have shown that oral health is related to general health. Advanced gum disease is linked to heart disease, diabetes, premature delivery in pregnant women, and stroke. Tooth decay is caused by a bacterium that can survive on toothbrushes. Viruses that cause colds, flu and fever blisters can survive for many days of toothbrushes. Droplet produced by flushing toilets can port bacteria and viruses that can remain in the air long enough to settle on surfaces. Thus, one can acquire infection by the aerosol produced by the toilet.

USA Today Health Review April 27, 2000 reported: “The most serious threat to the health of your daily may be hung in plain sight in your bathroom.”

Influenza (flu) virus, herpes simplex I, streptococci, staphylococci, yeasts and bacteria that cause gum disease, cavities, and even diarrheal disease can survive – some even thrive – in a high number of toothbrushes.

Some researchers have even found biofilm – breeding colonies of bacteria – on toothbrushes, and numbers greater than 100000000 microorganisms were recovered from the individual brushes.

Since most people keep their toothbrushes in the bathroom, bacteria from the mouth is not the only pollutant. Propels flushing of the toilet germs in the air, where they can land on toothbrushes. Toothbrushes are usually stored together; such contact between family members’ toothbrushes can spread germs from one brush to another.

Bacteria, molds, and fungi love damp environments and bathroom. They also do well in the darkness, so that the medicine cabinet offers the ideal environment for germs to survive and even to multiply.

Toothbrushes become infected some time between one week and one month after initial use. ADA and most dentists recommend changing the toothbrushes only every three to four months.

Some sources reported that the U.S. average citizen will probably change his/her toothbrush only twice a year. Ultraviolet (UV) light is a proven germicide solution.

It kills fungi like yeast and molds; disease causing bacteria such as streptococcus, salmonella and E. colli; and even some hearty viruses like influenza and hepatitis.

Proof

As easy as a brush, store and sanitize!

Numerous studies have shown UV light to be effective in killing germs on toothbrushes.

UV toothbrush sanitizers are reported to kill bacteria, yeast and viruses.

* A study done on the VIOlight toothbrush Sanitizer by Dr. Philip Tierno, Jr., MD, Director Clinical Microbiology and Immunology, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology and Pathology, New York University Medical Center, found that VIOlight removed to 99.9% of bacteria tested toothbrushes.

* Another study by Bureau Veritas, a global independent laboratory, also found that VIOlight toothbrush Sanitizer eliminates up to 99.9 percent of germs tested on toothbrushes.

VIOlight uses germicidal UV bulb – the same technology used in hospitals – to kill germs. Blue-violet glow lets you know the sanitizer is working. The entire process takes minutes. When finished, the bulb automatically shuts off and the toothbrush is fresh, clean and protected for the next time you brush!

Bronchial asthma treatment

Asthma is a condition that causes long-term inflammation of the airways. The inflammation makes the airways overreact to certain particles in the air. During an asthma episode, the muscles surrounding the tubes that carry air into the lungs (bronchial tubes) go into spasm; the mucous lining of the lungs swells; and secretions build up in the lungs, suddenly making breathing difficult.

A person who is having an asthma episode (attack) may make a wheezing or whistling sound while breathing. The person usually coughs a great deal and may spit up mucus. Sometimes a chronic, dry cough, especially at night or early in the morning, is the only symptom of mild asthma.

Many things can trigger asthma, including allergens such as dust, pollen, cockroaches, and animal dander. In general, viral respiratory infections, such as colds, are the most common triggers of asthma. Other triggers include exercise, cold air, cigarette or wood smoke, chemical vapors, pain relievers (especially aspirin), food preservatives and dyes, and emotional stress.

Asthma usually develops during childhood but may also begin later in life. The first episode often follows a cold or the flu. Asthma is more common in children who are exposed to cigarette smoke in the home. Many children outgrow asthma symptoms as they get older, but the symptoms may return later in life.

Most children and adults can control their asthma by avoiding triggers that cause attacks.

There is no way to prevent asthma. However, you may be able to limit the length and severity of asthma episodes if you can avoid or control your exposure to things that trigger asthma symptoms.

· Review Home Treatment for allergies.

· Control cockroaches. Do not leave food or garbage in open containers. Use poison bait and traps to kill cockroaches. Avoid chemical sprays, which can trigger an asthma attack.

· Avoid smoke of all kinds. If you smoke cigarettes, stop. Avoid places where other people may be smoking. Stay away from wood-burning stoves.

· Avoid irritants in the air. Stay indoors when the air pollution or pollen count is high. Try to avoid strong odours, fumes, and perfume.

· Avoid breathing cold air. In cold weather, breathe through your nose, and cover your nose and mouth with a scarf or a cold weather mask.

· Aspirin, ibuprofen, and similar pain medications can cause severe asthma attacks in some people. Discuss the use of these medications with your doctor, and use them with caution. If these medications bother you, don’t use them. Try acetaminophen instead.

· Do not use nonprescription cold and cough medications unless your doctor tells you to do so.

· Stress may be a factor in triggering asthma attacks.

· Reduce your risk of colds and flu by washing your hands often and getting a flu shot each year.

· If you use a humidifier, clean it thoroughly once a week.

· Build up the strength of your lungs and airways.

Get regular exercise. Swimming or water aerobics may be good choices because you are less likely to have asthma attack when you breathe moist air. If vigorous exercise triggers asthma attacks, talk with your doctor. Adjusting your medication and your exercise routine may help.

Considering this, the use of the Frolov’s Respiration Training Device (especially during the disease incipience) can both significantly decrease exacerbation of the disease (bronchospasm, breathlessness and cough) and work for a long term improvement.

At the beginning of the respiration trainings with the Device, your body will experience the following:

  • Higher negative inhaling pressure dilutes bronchial mucus, clears your bronchi and lungs from mucus and sputum, and improves the patency of bronchial tubes.
  • Higher exhaling pressure has the bronchodilatory effect, which improves pulmonary ventilation, increases oxygen share in blood, organs and tissues.
  • Diaphragmatic flutter allows peak involvement of pulmonary tissue in the respiration process, increases the breathing surface of your lungs and intensifies the drainage of your thoracic cavity helping to remove sputum and mucus.
  • Controlled hypercapnia and stimulation of centers blockading the parasympathetic activity and taking part in the regulation of contraction and relief of smooth bronchial muscles, reduces the bronchial spasm.

In 3 to 5 weeks of regular trainings you reach:

  • Adaptation to controlled hypoxia and hypercapnia, which activates functions of blood-making organs and immune system (during this period sputum is usually expectorated intensively).
  • Bronchial clearance normalizes oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange in your lungs, and hence considerably improves your health.
  • Slow and gradual increase of breathing exertions is the reason for deep changes in metabolism processes. This improves your health and lets you reduce your dose of medicines step-by-step until you need no antispasmodic and/or hormonal agents.

Bronchial asthma is often tough and even insidious, but everything is possible for a persistent and determined person. Take the Frolov’s Training Device as your assistant, and it won’t let you down!
