Quick Weight Loss Diets How Do You Know If They are Working?

I come across individuals all the time that tell me they have followed a quick weight loss diet, but don’t know if it worked or not.

What do you mean you don’t know if it worked or not?

Did you lose weight?  Did your body fat percentage decrease?  You have to know if it worked or not.

I then ask them if they took any measurements and body fat calculations at the beginning of the quick weight loss diet.

Usually the answer is no.

So I guess they are really telling the truth about not knowing if they lost any weight or not.  Generally they say they got on the body fat scale in the beginning and then weighed themselves at the end.

The scale can give you some answers, but it won’t tell you the whole story on whether or not your quick weight loss diet is successful.  It can also give you plenty of false numbers along the way that will discourage your efforts.

Spring clean your weight loss regime

Now that the weather’s getting warmer, it’s time to spring clean – and your  closet isn’t the only thing that could use it. Some of the “healthy” habits you  practice religiously may be excessive, ineffective, and adding clutter to your  already hectic life.

You drink eight glasses of water a day.

Why you can shed it:

- Eight glasses is a general recommendation and doesn’t take into  account different lifestyles. You’re probably consuming water from other sources  without even knowing it, such as in your morning tea.

Do instead:

- Have a glass of water right when you wake up in the morning, because  you’re bound to be dehydrated after a night of sleep.

- If you find yourself forgetting to drink enough water, fill a  half-gallon jug with water and aim to finish it by the end of the day.

You weigh yourself every day.

Why you can shed it:

- A focus on shedding pounds can cause anxiety about weight and also  increase the risk of gaining weight back over time. Weight scales don’t always tell the  whole story.

Do instead:

- Focus on body composition and how much energy you have on a daily  basis.

- Pick a goal that’s measurable but gives you higher self-esteem once  you accomplish it, like fitting into an old pair of pants or getting your blood  pressure down.

Digital Scales Types and Uses

Digital scales are electronic devices used to measure weight. Digital scales come in a variety of sizes and colours and are made from a variety of materials. Digital scales differ from traditional scales because they function based on the principle of load cell technology in which electronic load cells sense the weight of objects under certain conditions.

Once the weight is calculated it is transferred to digital or electronic signals and then displayed in a digital format. They are available in different models, brands, sizes, and shapes, and usually come with batteries as well as calibration weights, scale pads, and trays. Digital scales, like every other type of product, vary in prices and quality.

There are various types of digital scales available on the market. Digital scales are classified based on how they are used. Nevertheless, scales of one type can be used for other purposes as well. The most popular types of digital scales are bathroom, kitchen or food, postal, point of scale, pocket size and laboratory digital scales. Recently, scales have been taken to the next level and are able to make other calculations aside from weight. These scales are referred to as smart scales and can calculate calories and other nutritional information.
